Arthur “Artie” Thompson has finally reached retirement, a milestone many people describe as “putting your feet up.” Arthur, naturally, is more likely to describe it as “having more time to supervise everyone else doing things wrong.”

There will still be a careful inspection of anything assembled, repaired, moved, painted, purchased, planted or plugged in.
And that is exactly why he is loved. Arthur is not just the work he did. He is the stories, the steady presence, the dry humour, the helping hand, the raised eyebrow and the familiar voice in the background saying what everyone else was already thinking.
