Happy 80th Birthday, Maggie!

Eighty years of laughter, stories, family, mischief, strong opinions, excellent cake judgement and the sort of wisdom that usually begins with “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”

Maggie Wilkins: Queen Of The Raised Eyebrow

Margaret “Maggie” Wilkins has reached the grand age of 80, which is impressive enough on its own, but even more impressive when you consider how many cups of tea, family dramas, questionable hairstyles, dodgy knees and “I’m not buying that, it’s too dear” moments she has survived along the way.

Maggie is the kind of woman who can make a room feel brighter just by walking into it. She has a laugh that arrives before she does, an opinion for every occasion, and a remarkable ability to remember things everyone else hoped she had forgotten.

To her family, she is Mum, Nan, friend, adviser, biscuit supplier, birthday card expert and unofficial family historian. She has given love, advice, comfort, laughter and, when needed, that look which says everything without wasting oxygen.

“Eighty years old, still fabulous, still funny, and still fully capable of telling everyone exactly what they are doing wrong.”

The Maggie Moments Everyone Knows

Every family has those little things that become part of the legend. Maggie has several. Naturally. One or two were probably unavoidable.

The Tea Standard

Maggie believes there is a right way to make tea and roughly seven hundred wrong ways. Most people are still learning.

🎂

Cake Inspector

No birthday cake has ever escaped Maggie’s judgement. Too dry, too sweet, too small, or “actually, that’s quite nice.”

👓

Glasses Mystery

Maggie can lose her reading glasses while wearing them. A skill that deserves recognition, if not scientific study.

Known And Loved For

The Things That Make Maggie, Maggie

Eighty years creates a lot of memories. Some are big, some are small, and some involve Maggie explaining exactly why the price of things has become ridiculous.

  • Her laugh, which usually sets everyone else off.
  • Her ability to spot nonsense from across the room.
  • Her fierce love for family, even when pretending not to fuss.
  • Her collection of stories, warnings and “back in my day” classics.
  • Her talent for making people feel welcome, fed and mildly corrected.
With Love From The Family

Happy 80th, Maggie

Thank you for every laugh, every hug, every bit of advice, every family story and every moment you have made brighter simply by being there.

You are loved more than words can properly say, admired more than you probably realise, and responsible for more family laughter than anyone is prepared to admit.

We hope your 80th birthday is full of love, laughter, memories, cake, and people doing exactly as they are told for once.

“To Maggie: eighty years loved, eighty years treasured, and still the boss whether anyone admits it or not.”
